Cricket Career Of Ajaz Patel

Ajaz Patel made his List A debut on December 27, 2015, in the Ford Trophy. During the 2015–16 Plunket Shield season, he took the most wickets, with 43 dismissals. In April 2018, Ajaz Patel was named the Men’s Domestic Player of the Year at the New Zealand Cricket Awards.

He also finished the 2017–18 Plunket Shield season as the top wicket-taker, with 48 dismissals in nine matches. In July 2018, Ajaz Patel was included in New Zealand’s Test squad for their series against Pakistan.

Later, in October 2018, he was also named in the T20I squad for the same series. He made his T20I debut for New Zealand against Pakistan on October 31, 2018. In August 2021, Ajaz Patel was selected for New Zealand’s ODI squad for their tour of Pakistan.

Then, in November 2021, he was named in the Test squad for New Zealand’s two-match series in India. The second Test match began on December 3, 2021, and Ajaz Patel took all ten wickets in the first innings, ending with figures of 10 wickets for 119 runs from 47.5 overs.

He became only the third bowler in history, after Jim Laker in 1956 and Anil Kumble in 1999, to take all ten wickets in a single innings of a Test match.

In November 2023, Ajaz Patel was chosen for New Zealand’s squad for the Test series against Bangladesh.

In the first Test, he took 6 wickets over both innings. In the second Test, he did even better, taking 8 wickets across the two innings.
