Life Journey Of Gunratan Sadavarte
Before becoming a lawyer, Gunratan Sadavarte was trained as a medical doctor. He also completed a Ph.D. on the Constitution of India. He served as the president of the Bar Association of ‘Mat’ twice and participated in the Bar Council Summit.
In 2018, the Maharashtra government provided reservations to the Maratha community under the Socially and Educationally Backward Classes (SEBC) category.
However, Gunratan Sadavarte challenged this decision in the Supreme Court and won, arguing that the reservation for Marathas was unconstitutional.
On August 22, 2018, a fire broke out in the Crystal Plaza building in Paral. During this emergency, Gunratan Sadavarte’s 10-year-old daughter, Zane, who was in third grade, suggested some safety measures to those in the building.
Despite the smoke filling the rooms, she advised the 17 people present to wet a towel and use it as a mask to help them breathe.
Everyone followed her advice, which helped them avoid suffocation, ultimately saving their lives. For her bravery, Zane was awarded the National Gallantry Award by the President.
