Cricket Career Of Smriti Mandhana
Smriti Mandhana’s big break came in October 2013 when she became the first Indian woman to score a double century in a one-day match. She scored 224 not out off 150 balls for Maharashtra against Gujarat in the West Zone Under-19 Tournament in Vadodara.
In September 2016, Smriti signed a one-year contract with Brisbane Heat for the Women’s Big Bash League (WBBL), becoming one of the first two Indian women to join the league, alongside Harmanpreet Kaur.
In June 2018, she joined the Western Storm, the defending champions of the Kia Super League, making her the first Indian to play in the league. Later, in September 2021, she was picked for the Sydney Thunder team for the 2021-22 WBBL season.
In the first Women’s Premier League (WPL) auction in February 2023, Smriti Mandhana was bought by Royal Challengers Bangalore for ₹3.4 crores, making her the highest-bid player.

International Career
Smriti Mandhana made her Test debut in August 2014 against England at Wormsley Park. In 2016, during India’s tour of Australia, she scored her first international century (102 off 109 balls) in the second ODI at Bellerive Oval in Hobart, although India lost the match.
She was also the only Indian player selected for the ICC Women’s Team of the Year in 2016. Smriti was part of the Indian team that reached the final of the 2017 Women’s Cricket World Cup, where they lost to England by nine runs.
In October 2018, she was named to India’s squad for the Women’s World Twenty20 in the West Indies. In February 2019, she scored the fastest fifty for India in Women’s T20Is, taking just 24 balls against New Zealand.
In May 2019, Smriti Mandhana won the International Woman Cricketer of the Year award at the CEAT International Cricket Awards. In July 2022, she was appointed vice-captain of India’s team for the cricket tournament at the Commonwealth Games in Birmingham, where India won a gold medal.
