Amanda Serrano had a short amateur boxing career with a record of 9 wins and 1 loss. In 2008, she won the Staten Island amateur championship. On June 11, 2011, she defeated Jennifer Scott to win the WBC–NABF featherweight title.
Later that year, on September 10, 2011, she won the IBF super featherweight title by defeating Kimberly Connor with a second-round technical knockout (TKO). Amanda held the IBF title from 2022 to 2024. She is the only woman and the only Puerto Rican to win world titles in more than four weight classes.
