Career Journey Of Amish Shah

After finishing medical school, Dr. Shah worked at LEK Consulting, a global strategy consulting firm. He then earned a Master’s in Public Health from UC Berkeley with a full scholarship. Later, he trained in Emergency Medicine at one of New York City’s busiest trauma centers.

During his residency, he won the American Academy of Emergency Medicine’s National Resident Research Competition for creating a new way to treat critically ill patients. While in New York, Dr. Shah worked as a team physician for the New York Jets, an NFL football team.

Later, he became the chief medical officer at Urgent Consult. As of 2023, he is working as an emergency physician at the Mayo Clinic in Arizona.

In 2018, Amish Shah ran in the Democratic primary to represent Arizona’s 24th Legislative District. As a newcomer, he competed against the current Representative, Ken Clark. At the same time, the other incumbent for the district, Lela Alston, chose to run for State Senate instead.

In 2020, Amish Shah and his fellow incumbent, Jennifer Longdon, won the Democratic primary for Arizona’s 24th District. In the general election later that year, they defeated Robyn Cushman and David Alger to secure re-election.

After Arizona’s district boundaries were redrawn in 2022, Amish Shah’s home district changed from District 24 to District 5.

On April 3, 2023, he announced that he planned to run for U.S. Congress in Arizona’s 1st congressional district in the 2024 elections. To focus on his campaign, he resigned from the Arizona House in February 2024.
