Devendra Fadnavis was born on July 22, 1970, into a Marathi Brahmin family in Nagpur. As of 2024, he is 54 years old. His father, Gangadhar Fadnavis, was a member of the Maharashtra Legislative Council from Nagpur.

His mother, Sarita Fadnavis, was from the Kaloti family in Amravati. She also worked as a director at the Vidarbha Housing Credit Society. He has a brother named Ashish Fadnavis. Fadnavis is married to Amruta Fadnavis, and they have a daughter named Divija.

Devendra studied at New Indira Convent Bori School, Saraswati Vidyalaya, and Dharampeth Junior College, all in Nagpur. He earned a law degree (Bachelor of Laws) from Government Law College, Nagpur, in 1992.

Later, in 1998, he completed a postgraduate degree in Business Management and a diploma in Project Management methods and techniques from the Dahlem School of Education in Berlin, Germany.

Political Journey Of Devendra Fadnavis

Devendra started his political journey in the mid-1990s. While in college, he was an active member of the BJP’s student wing, Akhil Bharatiya Vidyarthi Parishad (ABVP). At just 22 years old, in 1992, he became a Corporator.

Five years later, in 1997, he became the Mayor of Nagpur at the age of 27, making him the youngest mayor of the Nagpur Municipal Corporation and the second-youngest in India’s history.

He has been representing Nagpur in the Maharashtra Legislative Assembly (Vidhan Sabha) since 1999. He became the Chief Minister of Maharashtra on October 31, 2014.

On November 12, 2014, his government won a confidence vote, allowing them to continue governing the state.

In 2018, Devendra Fadnavis, as Chief Minister of Maharashtra, led the BJP-Shiv Sena government that introduced the Maratha Reservation Act.

Later, after the political crisis in Maharashtra in 2022, Fadnavis became the Deputy Chief Minister on June 30, 2022, while Eknath Shinde became the Chief Minister.
