V. Senthil Balaji was born on October 21, 1975, in Rameswarapatti, Karur district. His father’s name is P. Veluchamy, and his mother’s name is Rukmani. He is married to S. Megala and comes from a farming background.
He completed his high school education at Rameswarapatti Government School, Vivekananda School in Pasupathypalayam, and Municipal Higher Secondary School in Karur. In 1997, V. Senthil Balaji started his public service as a local body member. He served as the Minister for Transport in the Government of Tamil Nadu from 2011 to 2015. However, he was removed from the cabinet in July 2015.
V. Senthil Balaji was elected as an MLA from the Aravakurichi constituency in 2016. After the death of Jayalalithaa, he played an important role in keeping the government stable. When the AIADMK party split into factions, he supported T. T. V. Dhinakaran.

On June 14, 2023, officials from the Enforcement Directorate raided V. Senthil Balaji’s home and other locations connected to him in Chennai and Coimbatore.
They questioned him about allegations related to his time as the transport minister in the AIADMK-led government from 2011 to 2015 before he joined the DMK.
